Sports is a great way for kids to stay active, have fun, make new friends, and develop new skills. At the Y, our sports programs focus on skill development, all-inclusive game play, sportsmanship, teamwork, and safety.
One of the many benefits of Y membership is having access to a variety of skill-building youth sports classes and leagues. You must be a Y member to participate in Y youth sports. Click below to learn more about membership and to join.

Youth and Teen Sports Classes
Soccer
Enhance fundamental soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, field position, and offensive and defensive strategies.
- Preschool-age Soccer (ages 3-5)

Basketball
Hit nothing but net as you improve your basketball skills, including ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, court position, and game strategy.

Little Movers
"Movers" is a PE-style program that helps children develop body awareness and motor skills while introducing them to the fun of physical activity. Children learn how to move safely and with control through the use of a variety of toys and fun props.
- Parent/Child Movers (ages 1-3)

- School-age Movers (ages 5-12)
Martial Arts (Ages 4 & up)
Martial Arts is an excellent practice for all ages that builds confidence, discipline, respect, focus, fitness, self-control, and self-defense. Participants are taught skills at their appropriate level and gradually increase as they become more proficient.
Classes are available for ages 4 and up. Ages vary by location.
Dance Classes
Dance (ages 6-9, 10-13)
Our dance class focuses primarily on Modern dance using expressive and free-flowing movements that incorporate multiple dance styles. Participants will learn fundamental dance steps, techniques, movements, and positions through dance, various exercises, and games.
Beginner Ballet (ages 6-9, 10-13)
Participants will have fun exploring and learning the fundamentals of ballet technique including ballet positions, movements, and terminology.
Rock Wall
Rock Wall Classes and Teams (Age 5 & Up)
Rock wall instructional classes and teams are available at participating Y family centers. Ages vary ranging from 5 and up.
Rock wall programs focus on safety and technique. Climbers also learn commands, rock climbing terms, tie-in knots, and play various climbing games. More advanced classes involve a greater focus on footwork, climbing strategies, and body awareness.

Rock Wall Camps (ages 8-15)
Our 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day rock wall camps provide a fun and challenging experience in all the right ways! Depending on the length of the camp, activities may include climbing and activities at the Y, climbing at Movement Climbing Gym (admission included in the camp price) and an outdoor climbing day at Safe Harbor, PA, weather permitting.
Waivers are available for younger climbers who can confidently climb a 5.9 (approximately six months of climbing experience).
Youth Sports Training
(Ages 6-14)
Y Sports Training Programs are a great option for youth who want to work on developing a strong foundation, understanding and execution of sports skills in a focused and structured setting. Our training programs provide high-quality, age-appropriate training sessions with small class sizes (maximum of 8 participants) for more personalized, coach-to-player interaction. Beginner and intermediate training sessions are available. Ages and availability vary by location.

Youth and Teen Sports Leagues
(Ages 3-5, 6-9, 10-13, 13-17)
Participants will be placed on co-ed teams according to age. They will develop fundamental sports skills through drills, game-like environments, and league play. Score is not kept during league games. Game times vary based on team schedules. Team shirts are provided along with other equipment for the sport. Leagues, ages and availability vary by location.

YOUTH BALL FIELD RESERVATIONS
The Ripken Memorial Stadium Ball Field at the Weinberg Y in Waverly (900 E. 33rd St., Baltimore) is the perfect venue for your next event or sports game. It is a turf, multiple use field featuring a full football field and a 60' baseball diamond. Soccer and lacrosse can also be played. The field is not lighted.
