The Y is a place where you can put your interests and gifts to use as a volunteer. We offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and businesses to deepen their engagement in the community and give back.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS AT THE Y
Mentoring is a purposeful, effective and rewarding way to have a direct and lasting impact on a child’s life. The Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Y mentoring programs serve youth who have been identified as needing the steady, predictable presence of a caring responsible adult in their lives.
Y FRESH MARTS
Healthy living starts with access to healthy food. The Y provides healthy food to the community through Y Fresh Mart food pantries.
Togetherhood
Togetherhood invites Y members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects that benefit their immediate community. It is designed to be a simple and fun way for members to support their neighbors through their own ideas, skills, energy, and the Y network.
Signature Events
Our premier fundraising event is our Annual Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K held on Thanksgiving morning in multiple locations across central Maryland. Each year, hundreds of volunteers help make Turkey Trot a success!
Corporate Volunteers
Employee well-being and satisfaction is enhanced by opportunities to volunteer with co-workers and make a difference in the community. Corporate volunteer activities facilitated by the Y are tailored to meet the interests of your organization.
Community Leadership Boards
The communities we serve are supported by volunteer boards called Community Leadership Boards (CLB). CLB members' primary responsibility is to help engage the community in the Y's charitable mission to support children and families in need.
CIVIC GROUPS
The larger Y community is rich with groups who help us further our cause in a variety of ways. We partner with Rotary, Boy and Girl Scouts, University Civic Engagement Clubs, and Fraternities to name a few. Doing good in the community is what we have in common.
